The Lord Jesus has called Greater Imani (faith in Swahili) Church and Christian Center to be a God-chasing, trail blazing, Holy Ghost-led body of Bible believers, anchored in the truth of God's Holy Word. Organized November 1, 1989 with twenty-nine family members and friends, Greater Imani has grown to over seven thousand members and a television audience of over twenty million. Greater Imani "seeks after the spirit" with gladness, joy and thanksgiving. Our worship experience is vibrant, intimate and heartfelt. The "teaching ministry" is paramount, with much emphasis on building believers through wisdom and understanding. Paul wrote to Timothy in his second letter, 2:2,24,25, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentile unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth."

We further believe that all members should ever be in a state of progressive spiritual improvement, constantly advancing in the divine life for the "perfecting of the saints." The Christian Education Department is committed to professionalism and excellence in teaching utilizing the best in materials, equipment and curriculum. Greater Imani is a congregation of baptized disciples, acknowledging Jesus as our Head, depending on His atoning sacrifice for justification before God, and relying on the Holy Spirit for sanctification, embracing the gifts of the spirit, united in the belief of the gospel, agreeing to maintain its ordinances and obey its precepts, meeting together for worship and assembly, and cooperating for the extension of the kingdom of God through the world.

Greater Imani is missionary oriented and dedicated, having found four medical missions in West Africa (Senegal, Ghana, Gambia, & Benin). Our missionary enterprise also focuses on the needs of those here at home. We believe the commission of Christ to "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:15,16). It is clear to us from this commission that the gospel is to be preached at home and abroad, utilizing all the tools affordable according to today's technology. Therefore Greater Imani believes our broadcast ministry to be divine discipleship, inspired by the Holy Ghost.
